Subject: [Slowhand] Crossroads movie review
Hi gang,
I attended the showing in Boise Idaho.
There were approximately 50 people in the house out of 198 seats available.
The pre promotion here in Boise was non-existent. 10 people that were there
were band mates or musician friends of mine who I invited.
There were no posters, placards or even mention on the show time list that
the movie was even there that night! Very disappointing.
As was the sound system our movie house used. The bass was poorly mixed and
no surround sound either. The Hi-Def images were great.
The actual movie was a nice snap shot of the concert. I would have chosen
some other songs than the ones that made it but all in all it was a fun two
hours seeing our heroes on the big screen.
Fortunately the Johnny Winter and BB King segments were not shown. The
biggest drag for me was the Doyle Bramhall II song which was way too long
and DB's tone was horrible.
Citizen Cope... total bringdown (as it was during the concert as well based
on reactions from people sitting around me at the festival)
Highlights... John Mayer ripped! Johnny Lang,Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa,
Robert Randolph all were excellent. Derek Trucks and Susan stole the show!
Eric and Steve were of course a huge highlight. EC did Sheriff and then
Steve came on for Had to Cry. They also did Voodoo Chile but in my opinion
it was way too long for the movie setting and should have been dropped for
something more upbeat.
Anyway I heard that the DVD footage is actually not the same as the movie as
the movie footage was taken from the big screen concert feed so we will
definitely get more flavor on the DVD including back stage stuff and extras
I am sure.
Looking forward to others reviews

Subject: [Slowhand] movie version of Crossroads 2010
I am curious how many of you saw the theater version of the 2010 Crossroads Festival? I saw it in a theater in nearby Raleigh-Durham, and the sound was not great, as in it there was no Dolby 5.1, or any of the sound one would expect from a concert video. The video itself was interesting for what was omitted: no BB King monologue (no surprise), no Bert Jansch, little Keb Mo, little Earl Klugh (both as part of an ensemble-Earl doing a 30 second solo on Lay Down Sally, Keb Mo a longer solo on the same song). Citizen Cope was featured-with a dazed/stoned look throughout-though I did enjoy the song. So, comments? Anyone else see this? Thanks
Michael

Went to see the 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival Movie last night. Only about 20 people in the theater. Having been to the actual event just a month earlier, it was nice to see the show while sitting in air conditioning. The movie featured a pretty good selection of songs from the many performances of the day. One thing that I had forgotten was the love affair all the artists, including EC, seem to be having with Citizen Cope. The DVD release, I'm certain, will feature much more of the day's events. All in all it looked good and sounded great.
