[Slowhand] Eric Clapton, please, ___ vocal

After hearing "Eric Clapton, please, the vocal" for several decades, I now am in a quandary after hearing the Wolfgang recording which sounds like "Eric Clapton, please, on vocal" to these ears.

I then listened to the Crossroads CD version and still heard "Eric Clapton, please, the vocal" as I had recalled from the vinyl Wheels of Fire and subsequent re-issues.

A possible resolution is that the Wolfgang version is unadulterated as recorded by Bill Halverson, and the released version as first heard on Wheels of Fire was altered by Adrian Barber or Felix during mixing by having Jack overdub "the" in the studio or by dropping in a "the" from another part of a live recording.
