[Slowhand] Is a pretty bad movie responsible for some great collaborations?

I stumbled across Blues Brothers 2000 on cable last night and while it is a
shame about how the movie turned out, there is some good music to be had.
It occurred to me (again) that that movie, which came out in 1998, is
possibly partially responsible for some of Clapton's collaborations in the
00's. The Louisiana Gator Boys has Billy Preston, Steve Winwood, BB, and
Dr. John. Could it be this bad movie spawned Slowhand's getting together
with these artists in the years afterward?
