[Slowhand] Is a pretty bad movie responsible for some great collaborations?

Interesting question Daniel. I have long held the view that Eric is very clever at assessing musicians he works with in other situations, because there are many cases where he has been on a session for another artist, and a contributing player has ended up in Eric's band later on. Steve Ferrone, Greg Phillinganes, Nathan East and Steve Gadd all spring to mind, but there are several others.

He does seem to have mended bridges in recent times, reforming Cream and working with Mayall, Whitlock and Winwood and sort of replicating the Dominos in 2007, but maybe bumping into some of these people in other settings has led to them reaching fruition.

You're right, Blues Brothers 2000 was a pretty lame movie, but it did reaffirm the notion that Eric should stick to playing and not acting!

Cheers,
Jon

I stumbled across Blues Brothers 2000 on cable last night and while it is a shame about how the movie turned out, there is some good music to be had.
It occurred to me (again) that that movie, which came out in 1998, is possibly partially responsible for some of Clapton's collaborations in the 00's. The Louisiana Gator Boys has Billy Preston, Steve Winwood, BB, and Dr. John. Could it be this bad movie spawned Slowhand's getting together with these artists in the years afterward?
