[Slowhand] The New Album

Oh, you guys are bumming me out! But I have to admit that his last few albums have just been uninspiring to me. I've often believed there's a lot to the whole "starving artist" thing and think that Eric really has nothing left to prove. And if that is the case, how can he really out do any of his early work which was earth-shattering and ground breaking (am I being redundant?).

I like the new song but have only listened to it a couple of times. I was hoping the rest of the album would be equally as good, if not better, but it's rare that someone puts out a mediocre song from an album if there are much better tunes to be released. Ugh.

We'll take our chances with seeing him in Raleigh here in less than six weeks. It's been a long, nearly three year drought since we last saw him.

Cheers,

Jeff

The sound in the Festhalle sucks and it's not worth the money by any stretch of the imagination. And mind me, I'm not cheap -- I flew to London with my wife and son to see Cream at the Royal Albert Hall and paid over $200 per ticket. We've got 1st row center seats to see Crosby, Stills and Nash in Mannheim this summer - that'll have to do.

Some mild reggae inspired songs, much like 'Revolution', and standards like 'All of Me' and 'Born to Lose' just make me wonder what's going on with the song selections. A nice tribute to Gary Moore with 'Still Got The Blues'. I couldn't help but wonder how it would sound, if given a little 'Before You Accuse Me' style treatment rather than the mellow acoustic offering on the album. 'Gotta Get Over', much like "Travelin' Alone" on the Clapton album is the lone attempt at a more electric guitar driven song. I'm sure after a few more listens I'll have a different take but right now I'm hearing my guitar player singing 'All of Me' and I'm a little sad.
