>> I'm in awe of the new volume by Marc Roberty. New session info - I had certainly never heard of some of the work, correction of long-standing errors, and explanations of how some conclusions are drawn. There are a (very) few things I don't agree with, but that can be easily fixed by pointing to articles for corroboration. A valid encyclopaedia of Clapton's music - indeed day by day. <<

Roberty gets it right that Beano was recorded in March 1966: not in April and not in May.

The Internet has given birth to many "urban legends," such as Clapton's supposed use of a Dallas RangeMaster on the album. There is absolutely no evidence for this, yet these legends take on lives of their own. The same happened with the Beano recording dates. Back in the 1960s, it was always known that the album was recorded in March 1966. Over the decades -- and especially since the advent of the Internet -- the urban legends seem to take over and a sort of mob rule prevails.
