Tony,

ONE of the very "eyesores" and trouble spots you speak of is one of the
first businesses open in St.Bernard- Lehmann's. We can agree it didn't look
good, trouble focused around there, not so nice things happened there, the
abandoned hotel on it's side looked like hell. Should we close that now, if
so why not today...let's keep St. Bernardians from having a place to go grab
a sandwich. The problem with your argument is that you can't be selective
without prejudice- what is moral to you may or may not be to another. AND
you can't say, well we will police later because we are rebuilding now. If
you chose that option then the case becomes that your morals are not morals
but rather opinions that are influenced by circumstance. Morals are beliefs
that never waiver, no matter the circumstance. Secondly, they were not at
the entrance to St. Bernard but rather at the end of Orleans parish...the
true entrance to St. Bernard was that run down, roach infested hotel-
econolodge. Let's talk about an eyesore, and the stuff that happened there.
Next, what about the gambling facilities at St. Bernard Hwy and Parish
road...what did that say about St. Bernard? Also, that every restaurant,
diner, and doughnut shop had gambling, what does that say? Is gambling
immoral? If so whay does the Catholic church use it so much and other faiths
say no way? Morality is something personal and spiritual and not something
that should be forced on others.
