Interesting what you have said about your brass and pewter items

I brought a few pewter items as well and they dont look to good. I did wash
some German linen I had since childhood (hope chest kind of stuff,does not
fit the bedding here, but what de heck, it is good fabric).
Some washed fine, others have holes as if burnt by acid. I think mold does
that too.
I once put a breadpudding on a pewter plate (New Years Eve party) and that
was a mistake. The acid from the fruit had permanently discolored the metal.

So pewter must not be as good in resisting any chemicals. However, even
stainless steel is corroding with this prolonged mud exposure. Never thought
I see that.
