I had flood insurance but my old uncle, that lives in Slidell didn't. He had

water up to about the door as you did. The FEMA inspector came out and
looked and took pictures and said he was eligible to get the max, $26,000
grant. That is where I got that from. That includes all the emergency money
and everything, and if they give you a FEMA trailer or rental support, I
think they deduct that from the $26,000. I'm not sure about all this but i
think that is how it works. So far he has gotten about $9,600. $2,000
emergency money, $2,400 rent assistance, and $5,200 to fix the house. I
think he may get more to equal $26,000 but so far he has not actually gotten

it. He also has a FEMA trailer so I don't know how much they take off for
that. You may be entitled to more, call FEMA and see, it can't hurt.

> Thanks, Syl, Lm is right. The $5,200, & the $10,000 from FEMA was

>grant. I lost everything, and I mean everything, I lived in the 900 block

>Mehle, on the Rally's side, &the inspector saw the water lines, at the top

>of my front door, and took pictures as well. If he max is $26,000, I wonder

>why I did not get that much. Are you sure about the $26,000? Does anyone

>know? As for gutting my house, is the bucket brigade the only program that

>could sign my house up for?? It's almost impossible to come & clean up even

>as a crew volunteering, I'm staying with my brother in PierrePart until I

>get a FEMA trailer, or my daughter finishes out the school year, whichever

>comes first. As soon as I get the trailer, I have every intention of

>volunteering to help others, after I make sure my house is taken care of. I

>lost my car, so, I have no way of traveling almost 2 hours a day right now.
