Prescription program representatives to be in parish government building in
Chalmette on April 5

Representatives of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance in Louisiana,
a program to help people who can't afford their prescription medication,
will be in the St. Bernard Parish government complex lobby on Wednesday,
April 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enroll individuals at no charge.

The PPA is a growing national program sponsored by America's
pharmaceutical research companies working with doctors, pharmacists, health
care providers and community groups.

The program matches people who are uninsured or underinsured to patient
assistance programs that may help them get the medicines they need for free
or at lower cost. Since its launch last year it has matched more than 1.7
million patients nationally and almost 42,000 in Louisiana.

Through its toll-free number (1-888-4PPA-NOW) and web site at www.pparx.org
the Partnership for Prescription Assistance provides a single point of
access to nearly 500 public and private patient assistance programs,
including more than 180 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.

More than 70 national groups, including the American Academy of Family
Physicians, Easter Seals, National Alliance for Hispanic Health, National
Urban League, United Way of America, as well as a fast-growing list of
state and local organizations, are working with America's pharmaceutical
companies to spread the word about the program.

Anyone who is having trouble paying for their medicines should call the
toll-free number and find out if they qualify for one of the hundreds of
assistance programs offered by the Partnership for Prescription Assistance.

To find out if there are patient assistance programs that may meet their
needs, patients can call toll-free 1-888-4PPA-NOW (1-888-477-2669) to speak
with a trained specialist or visit www.pparx.org.
