Khaki,

I don't believe I said FEMA was correct in earmarking that amount for
Recreation but if they did grant us that money should we turn it down or use
it, that is my point. If they are only going to let us use 15 million for
Recreation then use it, regardless of what else we have that is more
pressing. Get done what you can get done from FEMA.

In my opinion that 1/3 of the population is off, they are going to have to
up that number to closer to 40% or more because I drive out of the parish in
the morning and back into it in the evening after work and I see the traffic
that use to travel with me and how much was on the other side (another words
coming in from other cities in the morning) and going back home in the
afternoon, the other side of Claiborne or Judge Perez. Guess what? That is
not the case anymore, most traffic is on the side I am on now, we are
gaining on population daily. I lived on Plaza before the storm, I am now in
Arabi because of a deal I could not pass up but no doubt I was staying in
St. Bernard. I believe other areas are coming back that are not considered
upper class, they include the river side of Corinne, not Corinne Estates and
they have most of their block re-done. Judy Drive, both sides in Meraux are
coming back strong. My area on Mehle in Arabi just north of JP all of the
houses are complete or being re-done now. That includes a good 12-14
houses, now the rest have been demolished but I am fine with having 10 or so
neighbors.

As far as worrying about where you put things (like the location of Val
Riess because its next to the 40 aprent) I don't think those things are
relevant and here is why, if it floods again like it did for Katrina then
most of the parish will be gone, alot more than this time and it may be gone
forever so who cares where we put things because the bottom line is if it
floods again it doesn't really matter where the things are that were
flooded. Like the people raising houses 10 feet off the ground, what
happens if it floods again and 200 houses don't get water, thousands do and
those people take their money and move or relocate outside the parish?
Guess what that means for the 200 houses not flooded? No insurance money
and they are living in a community with no population or infrastructure,
maybe even no government then.

Again my point is sure there are other projects more pressing, I am sure you
and I could think of 10 or more major projects but without FEMA or someone
else putting the money up for the project its kind of silly to say we should
do it, come up with a way how we could do it. Again some of the council
members aggravate me with their agendas but Craig is not one of them in my
opinion, he is the best St. Bernard has right now and he is willing to
devote the time, even with a large family, to make sure everyone on this
forum and others get a response to their questions.
