Georges expected to bolt into Independent status

 A new John Georges campaign poll shows the Republican businessman will
improve his standing among voters if he switches to an Independent
affiliation. 

Verne Kennedy's new poll shows Rep. Bobby Jindal still leads with 54 percent
followed by Walter Boasso at 14 percent, C. Ray Nagin at 6 percent and
Foster Campbell and John Georges at 3 percent, respectively. 

If Georges switches to Independent, his support will improve to 8 percent,
placing third in the poll behind Boasso and Jindal. 

Since the GOP hierarchy has endorsed Jindal and all leading party figures
are backing the congressman, Georges has little room to grow as a
Republican. Since Boasso switched to the Democratic Party, his poll numbers
have improved so look for Georges to also switch.
