I too am left handed and use the reverse much of the time on my Foredom. 
However, stub cutters only work in one direction and must be used in  forward. For 
all others, I reverse my Foredom. Some Foredoms have a reverse and others do 
not seem to. I find  bits  are much easier to control in reverse when one is 
left handed.
