Suggest getting a Kevlar glove.  Kevlar is heat resistant and used for hot metals and glass handling.

I cut a finger off of an old Kevlar glove, then cut the end  open and slipped it over a Detail Master Pen for a friend.
He was quite happy with the heat resistant pen cover.
