Sam it is definitely not Luan. I am familiar with that.
I have now dressed the slab the better to see it, and after reading those
web pages Tom suggested I think what I have is a slab from an area removed
from where the mahogany I am used to is grown.
The web page said it grows from Mexico south.
It looked too good to pass up when offereed and the price was a steal.
The only thing I am sorry about is there were two slabs and I let a friend
have the other.
Still I suppose one slab and keep the friend is the best result.
