heh there Dan-----I purchased the Lee Valley belt sharpener several yrs 
ago---I use the 1ooo grit belt as well as the leather strop belt plus whatever 
rouge you like---dont forget the belts must rotate away from you so the motor 
polarity activity is pivotal---I also made a hinged box housing to keep small 
hands away from belt trouble but there is still entry access for tools---"better 
to be safe than sorry"--origin ?---all the best in your efforts to stay sharp
