With all the chat about cane tips I have not seen a mention of horn.
Back in the days of long rifles when they used a stick to steady their aim
a horn tip was usual as they are reputed to not slip even in running water
and were used when as canes when crossing rivers.
I have never put it to test but it would make a nice looking tip that would
not damage polished floors and may even work on ice thuogh that is not a
problem we have in West Aust.
