Hey Clive,

First, Mike and I are delighted to hear that you got your book in a
timely manner :)

We have been watching this thread with great interest and some grins as
we ship worldwide. We have had shipping problems with long delays, but
it's not just Canada ... It's everywhere! Currently it can take 30+
days for packages to reach the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada for
example. Usually that breaks down to two days to reach the border and
enter the Customs process, plus two days to reach the receiver once it
leaves Customs. All the other time is spent at that country's Custom
Department.

Back in mid-October we ordered a shipment of prints from one of our
Canadian artist (for our dog art site) it arrived on the 8th of December
... Six weeks ... And that one was coming in through US Customs. Our
Custom's Dept. even called us to confirm that we were a real and viable
business, even questioning us on what the package contained so that they
could compare our answers to the packing invoice provided by our artist.
So let's add America to the long mailing time list as well. Three years
ago that same shipment would have arrived in four days!

Since the tragedy of 9-11 the Customs Departments in every country have
greatly increased their inspections process. Our packages seem to run a
50/50 chance of being opened and hand inspected. We have even had some
parcels arrive to the customer damaged because of these inspections.
Plus once it reaches Customs there is no way to track the package, when
it arrived in Customs - when it will be leaving Customs. They seem to
enter the black hole of worldwide shipping.

Mike and I are not complaining! This new situation is simply something
we must adjust to even though we are the ones that get the brunt of
"Where's my package!!!" We both believe that this is now an unfortunate
necessity for everyone's safety and a sad bi-product of terrorism that
touches every person.

So, Clive, you are right! It's not Canada ... Or any other country is
particular ... This is just a fact of life everywhere today.

Susan Irish

Hi All,
I have recently received packages from the US. Two from E Bay and one
from
Susan Irish. They came through with no problems, and in quite a short
time.
So please do not be frightened off by this and stop sending to Canada.
We,
your friends in the snowy cold North need your packages and
friendship,,,,,,, please don't abandon and forget us. Keep the mail
coming.
Take care.
Clive.
