Maura...

Wonderful wood to carve. Great for relief and furniture. Ages into a really deep patina. The "Piecrust Table","Footstool" and "Misc Carvings" on my PictureTrail album are all Honduras Mahogany.

I have come across a couple of peices of some nice honduran mahogany and wonder if it is good carving wood. Can I hand carve it or should I power carve it. is it good to use for a relief or better for in the round type things. What would be a good finish to highlight the grain? any other info on working with mahogany would be appreciated. thanks
