When you sharpen you spend time trying to remove the wire burr.
The last thing you want to do is magnitize your chisels so that can pick up small iron particles that lie around the shop that act the same as a burr wood.  Take a screw driver magnetize it then dip it in iron filings and see how hard it is to get theose iron filings off the end.

 I humbly suggest that you don't use magnets.
