[Woodcarver] Tooled Finishes

The tools used on the base of the Love that Hare/Hair carving were 14 mm or
3/4" #3 and #4 gouges. The # 3 was used mainly up under the legs. One of
the tedious tasks was smoothing the chiseled edges on the child. First I
tried sandpaper but that was really slow. I found that a little scraper I
had made from a putty knife blade worked best for the task. Fine sandpaper
was used after the scraper but the scraper really did most of the work. I
shaped the scraper like an oversized comma and which provided a range of
curves on the edges from fairly flat to about a 1.25" radius and it also
provided a narrow end that was great for getting into tight areas.
