[Woodcarver] Tooled Finishes

Hi Alex,
Joe's right. Your "Love That Hare" carving is a real
storyteller. The idea of using that carving as a
texture study is a good point, so I have a question in
that regard. What sweep was the gouge you used to tool
the base of that carving? A 5 sweep, perhaps? Also, it
is hard to tell in photos because it's often difficult
to determine the size of the carving, but it looks
like the gouge used for the base tooling was quite
wide, perhaps a 1" or so? I like the look of a tooled
base with a sanded carving, but used a gouge on one of
my own carvings with too much sweep. Any discussion by
List members on tooled surface techniques would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Jean
