Hey Jack- good to see your "by-line". There are also a number of mills in Maryland- depending on where you are, that sell lumber (rough cut especially) that are a lot more reasonable than any other source I have found. Basswood isn't prevalent, but there are a lot of alternatives to that.

Rrezuma, where do you live? I live in Hanover, Pa just north of
Baltimore and I do a lot of teaching at my house. As a matter of fact
this coming Monday I will have a seminar at my house- from 8 till 5. No
charge, except for blanks. And I'll be making a big kettel of Maryland
