Years ago I taught my students to carve an olwl from a 2 x 2 block of 
mahogany. (Finished with brown show polish...quick and easy.)  I'll send you the 
pattern if it would help. I'm surprised I still have it. (Might take a day or so 
before I can scan it into the computer and get it off to you.   Rip
