Glad I'm not alone on this carving/wood turning dilemma. Found whole areas
of wood I've been hording just for wood turning and didn't realize it. Have
a few small vases ready for some free style chip carving or spirit faces.
Turned three N.A. flutes so far... only lost one and that was do to the
chambers being off center to begin with.
When I first got the lathe it needed some TLC. I deliberately left it apart
so I could get some carving commissions finished. As soon as the
commissions were done the lathe went back together and I filled two garbage
bags with shavings just from practice. Bowls with carved rims are next!
Mike, I like those pens. Thanks for the warning on the one Woodcarft kit.
My daughter wants a pen and picked out that one. I already did a Robusto
Jr. in curly spalted Myrtle. The next one is for a friend.
Keep on Carvin'
