[Woodcarver] Re: tool breakage and ironwood

I am not sure but I might have had a piece of that ironwood.
All I know is the gouges and chissels would hardly dent it. hard as a brick. It did have some redish tint to it.
 
I just sanded and pollyed it and put a nob on top of it and gave it to a friend for a combination Kiking Stick and a stick to use to poke the cows with when he is trying to get them from 1 pasture to another.
 
he got mad a stubborn cow and broke his other stick. Do not think he will break this 1. I had no idea what kind of wood it was until you mentioned the red rings. I picked it up in a brush pile.
That is where I get most of my wood for the sticks I make.
