Hello,
I hope someone can help me with a question about staining. A fellow carver
has relief carved a plaque and has rounded off the edges. She was wondering
if there is a way she could stain the whole piece without the end grain
edges taking the stain darker than the other edges. She would like the whole
plaque to take stain the same shade. Any help would be appreciated.

Rub the piece with linseed oil this should make the end grain stain
same color as the rest. It has worked well for me in the past. As with any new
method try it on a scrap piece first.
