I wanted to contact Victor Hamburger, who sent a note:
I got a great carving in the mail today from the Pacific northwest from John
Lukens. It is a pair of toothpick holders, carved in the style of the
Tlinget
Indians, representing a bear and a beaver. These are carved as they would
appear on a totem and are quite recognizable species even though the designs
are
very different that what we are used to.
I just finished reading "Alaska" by James A. Michener and will be traveling
to Alaska in a couple weeks to spend two weeks working at Sheldon Jackson
College in Sitka. I was interested in the Tlinget style carving. Do you or
John
Lukens have any pictures that we could see?
Eternally Blessed,
Dave Ullom <*}}}><
