I used to live in Oregon. If you can make it to the Oregon Coast and
Highway 101, there are a few places scattered along the road. Try around
Newport on the coast if you can get down that far. My sister lives near
there and I have two brothers in Bend (mountains). There is a neat store
in Newport in the downtown tourist area. It is called something Wood (I
can't remember the name). It has handcrafted art work; paintings,
sculpture, wood pieces etc. But most of all, if there are no shops you
like, stop and look at the mountains and trees. Tillamook has great
cheese (get the medium and sharp cheddar)
Enjoy beautiful Oregon
Brad

We're going to be in the Portland area Aug.2-5. Is there anything
carving related I need to see there? I'm not too crazy about the
northwest Indian style of carving, though. Any good places to get some
wood that would fit in my luggage on the plane? My husband's not a
carver, but he appreciates me dragging him to look at tools and wood
instead of to shopping malls.
