[Woodcarver] I give up

Alan,

Don't give up just yet! Have you tried power carving? You can get a Wecheer rotary carver for $25 USD. I know that may be a bit much for you, but if you save up for it, it might just be the answer to your problems. It may not be the best power carver out there, but it can handle all the bits and burrs, and can do just about anything the other power carvers can. Bits and burrs are an additional expense, but you can usually buy a basic set for not too terribly much money.

The "quality" of power carvers doesn't seem to matter quite as much as it does with knives.

I'd hate to see you give up your creative outlet. My husband never felt he was good at anything creative before, and this year, he won a first in category in the Novice Bench Class at the Ward World Championships. I'd love to see you have the same good experience.

Hi guys,

I would like to thank all those who answered my previous email about patterns and knives.

I have broken the jury rigged knife I was using and now have no form of knife whatsoever. As I just told someone, I didn't expect the high prices of the basics such as a decent knife. I also have to purchase my wood, I live in the city, I can't travel. I figure it is time to give up. I have never been good at any sort of creative craft before, carving was a bit different, I could actually do something. Most people think that all handicapped people do, is sit around and watch television. Well, for me, except for my penpals, emailpals and painpals that will be true from now on.

Again thanks to everyone I have ever spoken to on this list, I hang around for a short time, then I will unsubscribe, no use making thing worse, I will find it hard to hear about other people talking about what I can't do.

Bye folks.
