Fellow Carvers,
A wonderful Double Edge Slow Curved Knife arrived today from Michael Komick,
owner of Preferred Edge Knives and Supplies, Maple Ridge, British Columbia
V2X 3A8. 1-888-811-5551.
Michael's note just read "Donation for Marnie's treatment".
I just had to take it out of the leather sheath and give it a go. The 7-inch
handle makes it easy to operate with one or two hands. The 2-inch curved
blade is flush with the handle on the flat side of the blade allowing the
blade to get right down on the work. Its gentle curve at the end allows it
to get into some tight spots. The basswood seemed to melt when I made a cut
with both sides of the blade. The leather sheath is designed in such a way
that when you squeeze it opens to accept the knife blade without cutting to
go in. When you stop squeezing it grips the blade and holds it in place.
Exceptional design and great quality Michael. I can easily see how this
knife is a serious carving tool that will last many years. Thank you for
your love and generosity to Marnie and the rest of us.
