[Woodcarver] pencil marks

Al,
I use a soft white eraser found in art stores, office supply stores, etc. I
found one in a art store that was oval with tapered edges, just right for tight
spots! Obviously, the less pencil marks you use, and the lighter touch with
those you do put on, the better off you are!
And that poses a second question, does anyone have anything better than a pencil
for marking your carvings?
