[Woodcarver] heat transferred patterns

I'd like to hear some feedback on the use of heat transferred patterns. 
I am primarily a chip carver & find this to be a quick, easy &  accurate
method of getting my pattern onto a plate, box, board, or whatever.
However, I have just about quit using it.............the problem comes
after carving, when  there are remnants of the pattern that are not
completely carved off.............I've found nothing (& I've tried many
many different cleaners, bleaches & solvents) that will remove the
transferred toner short of sandpaper, which is the last thing one wants
to use on a completed chip carving.    Thanx !!!              Vance in NC
