   I'll have to try and set up a light as you suggest. This is a deep relief. Your suggestion about the ears is great :)

  To Don Moulton regarding Vincents' head: I don't know a whole lot about it (yet!), but recommend that you put a light directly above your carving to help understand the planes of the head. With a surprisingly low relief you can get a sense of three dimensions. P.S. If the ears do not work out, just cut them off. :) Alice Leora Briggs
