<Hmmm I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "mining">

Mining is an internet term for collecing data from an internet source without the owner(s) of those sources approval. In this case e-mail addresses were collected and used for a mass mailing. In this case the content of the e-mail was quite harmless. However, since e-mail addresses were collected from what apprears to be at least 3 mail lists groups, and all e-mail addresses were included in the header your e-mail address and mine have now been spread, maybe to places I don't want it spead.  

I hope this explains a bit about mining.
