[Woodcarver] wooden whistle incorporated in walking cane!!!

hi all,
 
i want to carve the handle of my grandfathers walking cane that i am making but i want to make it so that you not only have a nice handle but also some kind of wistle incorporated in the wood of the handle. ( very subtle of course)
can anyone tell me how to make a wistele ( glueing and sawing included).
you see my grandfather keeps falling and last time he fell he wasn't found for an hour i figure the wistle in the walking cane i a brilliant idear to get attention.
i want him to be able to say "look what my grandson made isn't it nice. oh and can you fix my ribs?" i fell again thank god for the wistle!!
lol i sound like salesperson.
 
if anyone can help on the wistle thing i would be gratefull
