Alaskan Yellow Cedar makes beautiful sculpture. Lovely color and grain.
It cuts cleanly with a SHARP, thin blade, but will not hold small 
detail like birch, maple and the like.
If you keep your carving design bold, with sweeping surfaces - avoiding 
small detail -  this wood is beautiful.
