[Woodcarver] Cutting Angles

Jean,

One way would be to make a jig. Mount the two pieces of wood
one on top of the other, supported by the jig, so they form the
angle you want. Then feed them into the bandsaw and cut through
them both at the same time and angle. Long as your blades nice and
tight and the jig setup is right they should match nicely. Best
thing is once the jig is made you can reproduce it endlessly.

Hello all,
I'm stumped at what should be an easy task, but I'm
new at marking and cutting angles. I've got two
12"x12" boards that are each 3/4" thick (1x12 stock.)
I want to stand these two boards on end and cut a
miter so that the two 12" sides form about a 60 degree
angle when glued together--as if you opened a book
that was 12" tall and set it on end with the two
covers fanning open to a 60 degree angle. I've tried
setting my bandsaw table at several angles, but can't
come up with the correct cut when the two 3/4" thick
boards are matched along the sides. If anyone
understands what I'm trying to achieve, please tell me
how to do it. And no pointing and laughing!
Jean
