[Woodcarver] RoundUp and other digressions

Hi Mike,
I carve for a living. I also teach but don't rely on my teaching for income.
For the last 2 years Evart Roundup has been a wonderful teaching experience
for me. That is why I tried to model the GOW to the Evart Roundup. I plan to
be back in Evart next year teaching because I also learn every time I teach
and I get to meet other wonderful carvers.
In organizing the next Gathering Of Woodcarvers (GOW) September 19 through
24 of 2005, I going to make a few changes. Namely to schedule the classes
and registration ahead of time so the students will know if they can get in
and the instructors know how many students to expect at a minimum.Other
non-registered students can come to try and find open seats. For Evart the
sheer number of people would make it a big job keeping track of classes and
registration. I only have about 75 here at the GOW instead of over 500 at
Evart. Bob Mau and Sandie Roosa help me organize the GOW and many others
come to help it run smoothly. The teachers are the most important part of
the GOW so we must be mindful of their needs.
There is some truth to what Cheryl says. She made the same comment to me. If
I was in the same position I might feel the same way. When she taught here
we had the freedom to charge for her class. At Evart I understand that they
can not charge except for material and such. The chemistry at the Evart
Roundup is perfect and that's why I believe people will always come and
there will always be teachers. I'm already trying to come up with an idea of
what class to teach at Evart. Any ideas?
