Whoa, Cynda, you really let the schools have it -- reflecting many of my own
thoughts. There should be some way to weed out the "bad" teachers and
reward the "good" ones, but I don't know how. However, sometimes I don't
think many of the parents are doing much better than the teachers. TVs,
DVD's, VCR's, video games are used entirely too much as babysitters and now
we are seeing the results in too many over active, non thinking, non
reasoning children. We have a Grandson as a very typical example. We
defined the problems. Where do we get the answers?

Congratulations, Ron Wright!!

Is this a monthly occurrence --- do we just sign up again or do you tell us
when to sign up?

Cynda, Don't worry about those who leave the list --- Don't they have a
"delete" button? Thanks to those who agree with this thought.

Although it is none of my business --- The whittling contest "Big Dog" is
talking about: don't the best whittlers win? Maybe the certificates should
be $20 for 3rd, $15 for 2nd, and $5 for 1st. Your giving the certificates
-- do what you want.

Sally, you make good points. So true, about children being labeled,
medicated, even put in a "class where they can learn better" in this point
of time. I think they got a better education from all angles in the 40's &
50's. As a new comer I guess I better hush.

Cynda, thank you for asking about Butternut. I've been afraid to try it --
same reasons as you. Thanks to all of you who responded, now I'll try.
Cynda, I do mostly relief carving, because I don't have to hold it with one
hand and can use both hands to carve -- sometimes my hands are so weak I
need both hands to hold the knife -- hence, the woodburning.

OK, I'm done for tonight. Is the way I answer OK? Please, tell me if you'd
all rather I do the way you all do.

Take care & God Bless,
Sylda Nichols
