TOM.....FOR THE MOST PART.....WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIB ING IS THE "PEOPLES CHOICE" THAT MANY CLUBS USE NOW....THERE ARE RULES OF ENTERED CARVINGS THAT WITH A PRESCRIBED NUMBER OF FIRST PLACE RIBBONS OR BEST OF DIVISION (OR SHOW) THE CARVER MUST MOVE "UP" TO THE NEXT LEVEL.....THIS HELPS TO CREATE A MORE COMPETITIVE ARENA IN JUDGED SHOWS......THE PROBLEM IS THAT CARVERS WILL TAKE THEIR "BEST OF SHOWS" OR "BEST OF DIVISIONS" AND ENTER THEM IN OTHER SHOWS IN THE STATE OR REGION.....THIS IS WHERE WE NEED A NATION-WIDE SET OF RULES TO MAINTAIN THE ELEMENT OF COMPETITIVE CARVING

IN THE NORTHWEST...WE ARE TRYING TO SET THESE STANDARDS WITH A COILITION OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE VARIOUS CARVING ORGANIZATIONS TO IRON THESE DISPUTES OUT

YOUR THOUGHTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME EVEN THO YOU ARE A "RANK BEGINNER"....AFTER ALL WE WAS ONE ONCE TOO!!!!

JOHN AKA MR CHIPS

OK, pretty much sticking my mouth where it has no business being but....

Let the people interested in the carvings vote. At the "door" sell (cheap) a
bunch of tickets, one for each "class" of carvings and a best of show.

rank beginner (actually even before that <g>)
