Hi Harry,
Checking refers to the cracks that appear in wood as it
dries. Pentacryl displaces the water in green/wet wood, greatly
reducing that crackiing. In my experience, Pentacryl does not
discolor the wood like PEG does, and according to the labels it is
non toxic when it dries.
