Hi Lori,

You've fully earned the "Wow Factor." LOL

AND we are hopeful to see a Barn Swallow in the future. We had some
construction done on our barn recently WITH a prerequisite for the Barn
Swallows ease of comfort. LOL David and I were flittering around,
just like a couple of Barn Swallows, when we were explaining their
needs. Fortunately we have a local farmer "handyman" that takes care
of our unusual requests. He understands!

They're losing so much habitat in the fact that wooden barns are being
replaced with steel barns. Also, people discourage them from nesting
because of their droppings.

I hear from the bird carvers at shows that we don't see Barn Swallow in
the carving world because they are difficult to design. The sleek
lines of the body with the very small head tucked down into the body
(more or less)......but "especially" the forked tail. I guess the tail
scares them off more than anything.

Lori, we would love to see you bring some awareness to this sweet
little "unrespected" bird.

Hopeful in Michigan (Big G)
Sally

Thank you for the kind words, Sally and Thomas! I think that no higher
praise could be offered than the "Wow Factor"...<grin>. As to my next
project... as soon as the nice folks at Fox Chapel wean themselves off
the medications I no doubt caused them to start taking we'll start
talking about the "next one"....LOLOL. Seriously, though, Sally, I like
the thought of a Barn Swallow. They are one of my favorites, too.

Thanks again! If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate
to ask!
PS: Larry...I posted your question (minus your name) on my board...
