[Woodcarver] Fair price for Rockwell 8 piece wood turning set

Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone knew what a fair price would be for a set of 
Rockwell Lathe turning tools. The set belongs to a friend of mine at work and 
belonged to his father who recently passed away. It is an 8 piece set and has never 
been used. I plan on buying a lathe in the future to turn bases for my birds 
but do not have need of them at this point. I would be purchasing them for 
future plans. I do not want to insult him and would like to offer a fair price for 
the set. He states that the original price was around $270 for the set 
although I have no idea. After looking on ebay, I was thinking somewhere in the 
neighborhood of $40 to $60 but I may be way off. If anyone knows anything about 
these tools and the fair market price, I would be very thankful for their input.
