Merrilee, bulbs receive a rating based on the color of light they produce.
The rating is expressed as a temperature in degrees Kelvin (K). The higher
the temperature, the hotter the bulb and the brighter the light. "Soft
White" is about 3000ºK, and "Spec35/Full Spectrum is about 5000ºK, and
"Daylight Delux is about 6500ºK.
The higher the Color Temperature, the brighter the bulb, and the hotter the
bulb.
I have one that shuts itself off, in the Summer, when it gets too hot. I
just haven't got around to either change the plain strip to a vented one, or
just drill some ventiliating holes in it.
