[Woodcarver] Dust Mask

Hi Ron,

Have you tried the respirator type of paper masks. The Kimberly-Clark really
seals nice because it has a natrual rubber seal that goes against your face.
The information I posted to this List a few days ago about respirators is
copied below.

That is the one we use in our shop. It is reusable for a few times but if
you're plaining or running other dusty machines they may only last 4 hours
before you pitch it and get another.

Now I got to tell you that your carvings are AWESOME. I've admired those
doors and mantels on your site a long time. How many years have you been
carving? Do you teach?

Hi Joan,

I have 2 respirators that I like to use. Both are rated N95 Approved (95%
filter efficiency level) effective against particulate aerosols free of oil.
Rated to 0.3 micron particles. Both are disposable after several uses and
light weight like wearing a dust mask. They look very much like dust masks

3M 8000 Particle Respirator rated for light duty N95 Approved. 30 per box.
(purchased from my local hardware store)

Kimberly-Clark 46727 Tecnol Fluidshield PFR95. N95 Approved. 35 per box.

I wear either type but my apprentice likes the Kimberly-Clark better because
it doesn't steam up her glasses. I also feel I have a much better seal
around my face with the Kimberly-Clark.

We both wear the regular size Kimberly-Clark model number PFR95-170. It is
latex free with a soft type of plastic that seals to the face better than
the 3M product. It is as light weight as the paper dust masks and worn the
same way. I purchase them from the hospital were my wife works (I think
about $10 a box).
