I don't find it faster, but I do find it smoother. I must lack the purity gene.
I have looked at a lot of the carvings that you all do and I am in awe of such talent.

For my self I do NOT use power tools 
Don't like the noise and dust 
Make sure you use a mask at all times while using your dremmel
