I am far from good, but people at least recognize my carving as a chickadee etc.

I am also trying some chip carving for the first time. Anybody got tips for a shortcut to transferring designs to the wood?

Anyways, I am looking forward to learning something on the list and having some contact with the world of carving again.

Thanks,

Jim

Welcome to the list Jim
You'll see this is a great family of carvers
I am NOT a duck carver My motto is "NO urge to carve birds
But I do love chipcarvintg
Shortcuts ???
It really is a NO NO
As you got to lay out the pattern for each carving to suit the wood
But many good chipcarving books are on the market and you are allowed to copy them and than trace them on to the wood with carbon paper
there are also stamps available from
One I have here is
STAMP'N CHIP
from Jeff Fleisher
Also Barry McKenzie is an ardent chipccarver and has a magazine out several times a year
His address is 26163 Pecos drive Lebanon MO 65536-5411
I wend to visit him some years ago and he is VERY helpful
Good luck and keep us posted
