There are a variety of artists around the world that I have run across that
carve Nesuke now. One in Austrailia was featured in carving magazine some time
ago (The mag from England) and I know Peter Benson from England carves them
occasionally. He also has stories of other Nesuke carvers in England that he
told us about one year at the Mystic retreat. New figures, carved to order,
apparently bring big $$$. Currently, they are being carved more often in
boxwood and other very densely grained woods rather than ivory.

The biggest collection of Netsuke in North America is at the Peabody Essex
Museum in Salem Mass. http://www.pem.org/homepage/
