[Woodcarver] RE; Turning

Hi all,
 
If this is to far off topic please respond off list. I have a chance to
pick up a "Chicago" brand lathe with Marples tools. I know for carving
Marples tools don't hold an edge well and I would assume the same for
turning. I know of the Chicago brand but don't know the quality of their
lathes. Can anyone help ???
